Application Exercise 5f: Treatments experiment
- The efficacy or effectiveness of Treatment A and Treatment B respectively are identical in Scenario 1 and Scenario 2. They are just ‘framed’ or worded differently. In Scenario 1 there is a ‘positive spin’ on the treatments (people are alive) whereas in Scenario 2 there is a ‘negative spin’ on the treatments (people die). However, when this experiment is conducted, participants often select a different treatment option. For example, when presented with Scenario 1 they might select Treatment A but when presented with Scenario 2 they change their treatment option to Treatment B or vice versa.
- This will vary from student to student.
- The answers to this application exercise would be different for each class as it involves research by students.
